About LEVEE
LEVEE founder and maker, Beth Chesser began her creative career in digital music and sound art and went on to study jewellery manufacturing and design at the British Academy of Jewellery in both Birmingham and London. During this time, she developed goldsmithing skills and in-depth knowledge of precious metal casting, working in the 3D printing department at the renowned Birmingham Jewellery Quarter casting house, JewelCast. You could say that this combination of technology and art has been an ever-present theme throughout her career. True to her multi-disciplinary background, Beth based her first collection; ‘Multiplane’ on the traditional multiplane camera, initially used by Lotte Reiniger and Disney. You’ll also notice a strong Scandi, minimalist aesthetic running through LEVEE jewellery which is owed to the time Beth spent living in Helsinki, Finland.
Meticulously crafted, LEVEE jewellery combines traditional and contemporary techniques to create jewellery that is unique and memorable. The geometric, clean lines encourage the viewer and wearer to look deeper into the precious metal centre, much like how the multiplane camera created a sense of depth within the animated scene. Each piece of LEVEE jewellery is created using a ‘small batch’ approach which means that each piece of jewellery that you order is treated with the care and attention it deserves. Now working just outside of Oxford, we also choose to collaborate closely with artisans in the historic Birmingham Jewellery Quarter to help support the jewellery manufacturing industry outside of London.
